On September 23rd, 2018, the Modi-led government launched India’s most ambitious public health insurance scheme yet: the Ayushman Bharat– Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). What is Ayushman Bharat Scheme? The scheme covers free hospital treatment for rural and urban poor, for up to Rs. 5 lakhs per family.
